This year’s Emmys were notable for many reasons, the biggest being the premiere of the new nomination system that somehow skipped over great shows like My Name Is Earl and Boston Legal in favor of way-less-than-great shows like The New Adventures of Old Christine and The Office. The fact that Julia Louis-Dreyfus (New Adventures of Old Christine) beat out Jamie Presley (My Name Is Earl) for “Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series” is a crime of nature, especially since I’m pretty sure the only laugh anyone gets from her post-Seinfeld series is the fact that someone at CBS actually greenlighted the damn thing.

As a host, one cannot do much better than Conan O’Brien, who could make even those high school award ceremonies for minor scholastic achievement interesting. And, although most of the inter-presenter banter was as boring as usual, the bit between Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart greater than it had any right to be.

All-in-all, what made this Emmy ceremony notable was the ratio of crappy nominations to quality laughs… almost in perfect harmony. Well, except that whole Christine thing. There was nothing Conan, Colbert, or Stewart could do to make that wound a little less painful.

Go check out Weird Al Yankovic’s MySpace page to listen to his new single, “Don’t Download This Song,” from his upcoming album, Straight Outta Lynwood, which is coming out September 26th.

It’s fantastic. Do it. Go. What’re you waiting for?!

…shooting a video in an undisclosed location for JustAnotherTuesdayNight.com and, if it’s good enough, The Brandon Show.

While I’m away, go add eTM as your friend on MySpace.  We’re super-cool, I swear.

So, Marvel’s big event, Civil War, latest issue is gonna be late… about 35 days late. So, a series written by one guy, with art by another guy, is late three issues in, and DC’s event, which is written by four guys, with a dozen artists over the course of the series, has yet to be late in 13 issues. Weekly issues, at that.

And people wonder why I’m a DC guy…

It’s done… eTM has a MySpace page.

Add us as a friend over here… please. We need to feel loved.

(Sorry ’bout the wrong link… been a little distracted by the people redoing my bathroom.  I blame them… ’cause passing the buck is the American Way.)

If you’re like me, and I hope to God for your sake you’re not, you don’t have the money to lay out for script writing software to make your writing easier.

Well, you don’t have to… lately, I’ve been using Celtx, a fantastic bit of freeware that not only formats your scripts, but also has a whole bunch of other multimedia functions to it.

Oh, just go check it out at Celtx.com. It’s awesome.

the post over here?  The story I linked?  It is a joke.

Seriously.

Since my own Father didn’t pick up on that I knew, I figured I’d clue the rest of you in, too.

That’s where I’m at right now. Which is why I haven’t posted in a while… m’bad.
Things to come to eTM over the next 48 hours:

  • My thoughts on the WWDC
  • A crapload of comic reviews
  • An eTM MySpace site (taking “trendy” to a new low)
  • 3 (count ‘em, 3!) new essays
  • A new Suck & Swank

[UPDATED: Yeah. Gonna take more than 48 hours. Mainly 'cause, onlike other people, I kinda need to pay bills and things, which this doesn't do.]

So, be sure to check back often… things will be poppin’ over here.

It seems that there is already a group of super-nerds that are lining up for the 2007 and 2008 San Deigo Comic Con already.

Seriously.

Just when you thought your life was crappy… yeesh.
