Apple has announced that there will be a non-iPod/iPhone press conference on August 7th.
Smart money is on iMac, iLife and iWork announcements. Long shots include an early release of OS X Leopard and updated .Mac functionality. Not happening? Steve Jobs topless.
Count your blessings.
Been a while since I’ve posted on here– sadly, working 50 hours a week will cut into your time for other things.
First up, if you have an iPhone, PopCap Games has released a free version of ‘Bejeweled’ for you at http://static.popcap.com/iphone/. Don’t have an iPhone, but wanna play some free ‘Bejeweled’ anyway? Well, since iPhone applications work in Safari, you can just go to the site from whatever browser your in and you should be able to play… I’ve been playing for a few days in Camino and it works fine, and Brandon reports it works fine on a PC.
Secondly, Best Buy is currently selling 5.5 Gen iPods at a $10-$15 discount; last time that happened, new iPods were announced shortly thereafter. And, given that various rumor sites are pointing to an August release of the 6th Gen iPod, this doesn’t seem to be too impossible.
Speaking of the 6th Gen iPod, MacRumors had a post that was hit with a cease and desist order by Apple legal featuring what could be the new interface of the unit… which was a very minor change that was, frankly, unimpressive. Here’s hoping that it was an interface that was discussed, but tossed aside due to Apple deciding to make this new iPod like an iPhone without the internet and phone.
Finally, one of Apple’s ‘Hot News’ items yesterday featured a headline about ‘Keynote ‘08,’ pointing to a possible release of an update to iWork, which has sat in languish since 2006. The headline was quickly changed, but a guy can hope, can’t he?
I just wanted to point out something to you that my mother pointed out to me: Senator Joe Lieberman sounds like the father from ‘A.L.F.’
Go ahead, try and take him seriously now. I dare ya.
…and the verdict is in: Verizon is darn lucky I’m poor as dirt, or I’d be going and buying one of those things right now.
If you know someone with one, ask to try it out. It’s glorious. And, when I get more than 15 minutes to goof with it, maybe I’ll write a review. Or maybe I won’t. Who knows, really?
MacRumors is reporting that Think Secret is reporting that Apple will be unveiling new iMacs and an update to iLife August 7th. No word is given if iWork will be updated then, too, but it’d be nice, considering I’ve been waiting patiently and August 7th is right after my birthday.
It’d be like a present from His Jobsness directly to me, which would be considerate, given how much of a shill I am for his stuff.
…so I won’t be updating for a few days. Thought you should know.
There’s rumors going around that Apple is working on an iPhone Nano that would lack the touch screen (using instead a scroll-wheel dialing system) and be priced around $300. The rumors also state that the new iPhone would be available in the 4th quarter of this year.
I figure the odds of that happening are as good as Jessica Alba calling me tomorrow to ask me out on a date, but I thought you’d wanna know, anyway.
David Pogue is the man; go watch this video to find out why.
UPDATE: The NY Times has posted the video on YouTube, which means it can be embedded here, so I will.
It’s great. Further review is coming when I get home from work, but, needless to say, you must go see it.
