Well, This Is Lame

So I'm putzing around on my laptop this morning when I notice a small dot on my monitor; as I'm insanely OCD about such things, I quickly grab my bottle of Monster Screen Clean and start attempting to wipe it away. It stays there, unmoving.

I raise an eyebrow, questioning what the hell is going on. I mean, this computer is two months old, for crying out loud... it couldn't have a dead pixel already, could it?

Yeah, it appears it could.

On the plus side, I have a service plan on this guy, so I can send it out to get the screen repaired. Down side, naturally, is that it'll take anywhere from 2-4 weeks for me to get this stupid thing back. I suppose I could argue that it's been two freakin' months and that an exchange is in order, but I really, really don't wanna have to replace the hard drive in one of these things again.

I swear, when I think I can't have worse luck with electronics, something else proves that my optimism is unwarranted.

Furniss told me a while ago about a site called The Experience Project, which I have become quite the fan of over the past few days. It's basically a site where you share various things that have happened to you, connect with other people, and perform amazing feats of awesome that mere mortals had once thought impossible.

Okay, maybe not the last part, but you get what I mean. Check it out, it's quite the non-wasteful time waster. And while you're there, find me.

New York Comic Con 2008: The Klingon Hunt
Posted On April 21, 2008 Under Comics // 2 Comments //

As I've mentioned a few dozen times before, one of my favorite things to do at comic conventions (besides going to panels and getting stuff signed) is going Klingon Hunting, where I attempt to get pictures of people in costume, often without them knowing I've taken said picture. And, with the New York Comic Con having just passed, my first major hunt of the year has come and gone, and it was quite the success.

After the break, the fruits of my labor. Enjoy!

NYCC Updates

Despite the late start I got Saturday, and the few snags I hit Friday, I do have a bunch of stuff for you. After I come home tomorrow, I'll post up what might be my most successful Klingon Hunt ever, and thrill you with True Tales Of Nerdism!, which would make a great title for a weekly column.

Which, given that this is my website, I might just make a weekly column, dammit. We'll see how it goes.

The mockery will begin shortly, and last until I've completely lost interest.

Prepping For New York Comic Con
Posted On April 15, 2008 Under Comics • General Stupidity // 0 Comments //

The New York Comic Con is coming this weekend, and I'll be there, live blogging various panels (assuming the Javits Center has some form of wireless internet) and Twitterizing the rest of the show.

I will also be Klingon Hunting, photos of which will be up on my brand-spanking new Flickr account, while any videos will be up on my YouTube feed.

So, if you wanna see various forms of awesome mixed with a healthy dose of stupidity, c'mon back this weekend. And if you want some intelligent conversation, yeah, this won't be the best place for that.

3G iPhone Coming Soon-ish! (Maybe)
Posted On April 2, 2008 Under Apple // 0 Comments //

AT&T's Mobility CEO said in a press conference today that all the company's smart phones will be 3G within the next few months. When asked if this included the iPhone, he said, and I quote, "Fool, I said all my smart phones. I pity da foo' who don't listen to what I say!"

Well, that's what he woulda said, if the AT&T Mobility CEO was Mr. T. Sadly, that is not the case.

Anyway, it looks like the 3G iPhone will be coming soon, as I Twittered (and the rest of the world actually posted about) when it became apparent that Apple stores all over the place were out of stock on the current generation iPhone. But, I suppose it's nice to have some confirmation of some sort, none the less.
