New York Comic Con 2008: The Klingon Hunt
Posted On April 21, 2008 Under Comics // 2 Comments //

As I've mentioned a few dozen times before, one of my favorite things to do at comic conventions (besides going to panels and getting stuff signed) is going Klingon Hunting, where I attempt to get pictures of people in costume, often without them knowing I've taken said picture. And, with the New York Comic Con having just passed, my first major hunt of the year has come and gone, and it was quite the success.

After the break, the fruits of my labor. Enjoy!

Chrome Cap Crap

Marvel Comics released an image yesterday of the cover to the upcoming Captain America #34, featuring art by Alex Ross. For the few of you who aren't aware, Captain America (or, more specifically, Steve Rogers) was killed by an assassin in #25, so by the time this issue hits, the title will have been free of anyone calling themselves "Captain America" for nine issues.

Captain America Redesign

Now, my initial thoughts were that this redesign was the dumbest thing in the history of the character; Steve Rogers doesn't need a gun, or a knife, nor would he wear black with some stupid chrome pajama-top. Of course, the issue with that was that I was assuming it was Steve Rogers under the mask, which, as I discovered several hours later (and hoped that I would discover, hence why I waited to post this), was wrong. While we still don't know for sure who it is (although smart money is on Bucky Barns, Cap's once-dead-then-brainwashed-USSR-assassin-now-no-longer-brainwashed sidekick), it certainly makes the whole ugly outfit a little less difficult to deal with.

And, from one of the other images that was sent with the press release, it looks like this Cap carries a canteen. Which, of course, is pretty sweet.

You can check out an interview with Alex Ross and Captain America writer Ed Brubaker on Newsarama here for more info on the costume change.
